Soul Amnesia, 30 Days of Thankfulness, Day 1

1 Nov

It shouldn't be like this. My soul; so forgetful. Soul Amnesia I'd call it.  30 Days of Thankfulness. A rhythm. Or so I thought. To remember gratitude. Deeply. In the places of our soul. Yet. Here it is another year and I have found myself with soul amnesia.  Forgetting to name the good and working to see the finger prints of God. I almost missed this the other day. Thankful for the dancer girl whose excitement caused me to shift. I was busy. Caught up in the doing. I needed a reminder. Help in overcoming my soul amnesia. I stepped outside to marvel at the beauty. I ... View Post

What To Do With Another Birthday

2 Sep

Our Community mourns the loss of another young child. An accident. A bike. A heart ache so deep. We on the farm hurt as we pray for this family and long to ease their ache. Our days have turned to years. 7 years our boy has been gone. Today marks 8 birthdays we've celebrated without him. I never know how to handle this day. Some days I just want to run. Run from the searing pain; The memories and excitement of being a mom. The grace of the years raising children. Other days I want to dig in and remember. To hold tightly to the days and years we had together. I close my eyes and ... View Post

Ginger Water

22 Aug

The sun shines. The temperatures are warm. We had a late snow storm in May. But now; it's Summer in all its glory. With the warmer weather the haying Season began for the Davis Farm. The farm boy took the reigns and haying was completed in two days. There wasn't much for grass. Low inputs to the fields and a cold Spring provided a low yield. The days dawned clear and warm. Perfect weather for haying. All hands were on deck. There was a flurry of activity at the last minute With the work comes preparation of food. Long days require nourishment. Breakfast is usually quick and ... View Post

And Time Continues to March On. . .

24 Jul

We dance the dance of life. The newly engaged daughter tries on wedding gowns and we laugh and make new memories. The years flash before me as I watch her walk out in dress after dress. Seeking the perfect match. Searching. Waiting. Hoping. Her dreams are before her. Time, continues to march on.  A new journey. Hope. I look at these children of ours. One married with two children. Making a difference in this world teaching. One, newly engaged and chasing the big bad Covid in any way she can. Another with his own business; making his own path, in his own way. The next to ... Happy Birthday To Our Nation, Our Blog And Our Youngest Farm Girl!

4 Jul

Happy Birthday To Our Nation, Our Blog And Our Youngest Farm Girl! It's been 7 years; 7 years since I started this blog. 7 years since the kids said a blog is better than long winded posts on face book. I love my kids.  And so we entered the world of blogging. It was our daughter's 8th birthday and the 4th of July!  Our little firecracker, as Nana called her. Spunky. Cute, Sugar and Spice (emphasis on the spice) And now she's turning 15. She's the youngest daughter of a 3rd generation farmer. She's named after her Grandfather's sister who lived next door. A ... View Post

A re-post on Community

29 Mar

I posted this 3-24-18. I'm missing these gatherings and sense of Community. Yet, there is something else happening. I hope we all notice and take note. We're being creative. There's a sense of slowness. Neighbors helping neighbors. A little more outward perspective is happening. I don't want to miss the lessons we need to learn in this time.  `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` March 24, 2018 Small town living.  Community.  A fun reminder today of the uniqueness of this place we call home.
