Happy Birthday To Our Nation, Our Blog And Our Youngest Farm Girl!
It’s been 7 years;
7 years since I started this blog.
7 years since the kids said a blog is better than long winded posts on face book.
I love my kids.
And so we entered the world of blogging.
It was our daughter’s 8th birthday and the 4th of July!
Our little firecracker, as Nana called her.
Spunky.
Cute,
Sugar and Spice (emphasis on the spice)
She’s the youngest daughter of a 3rd generation farmer.
She’s named after her Grandfather’s sister who lived next door.
A woman who was such a role model to me.
A hard working, Lord loving, independent woman.
Eleanor shares so many of her qualities.
She’s the youngest of 6 children.
She’s fearless and confident.
She’s smart and witty.
She’s stubborn as the day is long.
She loves the Lord and is digging in to understand what that looks like to live.
She’s faithful and trustworthy.
Loving and lovable.
She’s loyal.
A good listener.
A dreamer.
A dancer.
She loves adventure and longs to travel.
She’s musical and can drive any piece of equipment on the farm.
And my baby’s turning 15.
So many new adventures await her.
She’ll get her learner’s permit.
Now she can drive legally.
15 seems like such a grown up.
I wonder where my babies have all gone?
I’ve traded diapers and bottles for conversation over coffee.
There’s hard work here on the farm and she’s always ready for the challenge.
She hasn’t met a piece of machinery she can’t drive.
She’s up for spreading manure for her brother or baling hay for hours on end.
Yet, she’ll lead a group kids through a tour of our farm as natural as they come.
She has an infectious joy.
And a temper to match!
I wonder where God will lead her?
How will she use all these gifts to further His Kingdom and bring people to a better understanding of God’s love for them?
Whatever she does it will be fun and wild!
There’ll be laughter and energy and love and joy.
When I look at this firecracker I can’t help but thank God.
He knew I would need a reason to get out of bed. . .
He knew this world would need a little bit of Eleanor!
As we celebrate our Nations birthday we’ll take a moment to wish this firecracker a Happy 15th!
