What if we woke and said,"This is going to be the best day ever!" What if we chose to not let one thing ruffle us today? How would our day be if we gave and gave throughout the day? If we looked beyond our own needs. How would the day look, if we looked to the interest of others before ourselves? Every decision was made to benefit another. The best day ever. It's the best day not because it all went well. It's not the best day because we were successful and received much. It was the best day because we stepped aside and let God do His work. Everything may have gone wrong. But it ... View Post
My Eyes Flutter Open To Moon Light Day #14 of Thankfulness
I open my eyes. The moon light illuminates all in my room. I lay there for a moment. I breathe deep the start of a new day. Even after three years it is still so hard. It is still my first thought when my eyes flutter open. It is still a weight I carry every day. As I lay there, I gaze at that moon. It is truly beautiful. So large. Bright. Soothing. The message at church spoke of light. Light; illuminating the darkness. Jesus was that light. He came. Humble. Strong. Preaching a message of hope. I grab my coffee and turn on the fire. There is a bit of a chill in the ... View Post
A Gathering Day # 13 of Thankfulness
We gathered together over coffee and tea. We shared a meal. Then it got real. One brave, brave woman shared her story. It wasn't always pretty. She opened her heart. Vulnerable. Raw. Strong. Beautiful. She gave all she had. Surrendered, in the mess, to the giver of life. She gave him the broken pieces and he rewrote a beautiful story. A story of faithfulness and grace. Of strength and glory. She shared with us; this beautiful woman. Our stories are important. They weave together the tapestry of who we are. When we share the journey, we release the stronghold that ... View Post
The Early Morning Sky Day #12 of Thankfulness
I step outside to collect greens for centerpieces. It is dark and quiet. There is a chill in the air. I glance up. "Oh!" The early morning sky takes my breath away. Stars upon stars. A glorious sight. I marvel at the sheer number. I turn and turn; I can't seem to grasp the magnitude. Each direction is filled with the luminous, shimmering, light. I wish I knew more of the constellations. Stargazing in the city was quite different than the country. I stand in awe. It's cold. I need to gather greens. I feel small. This great sky looming before me. I feel insignificant beneath ... View Post
There is Strength in the Surrender Day #11 of Thankfulness
It is in the Surrender that we are the most strong. When we lay it all down. That the power is fully engaged. Surrender- to give the control or use of (something) to someone else When we bow, humbly before the Cross. We are strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." . . . It is funny how that is. The tighter we have a hold on something; the further from our reach. The more we let go. . . the freer we become. My father died on Memorial Day. So fitting for a man so Patriotic. He was staunch in his ... View Post
Can We Have Differences But Not Take Sides? Day #10 of Thankfulness
I thought it would stop. All the negativity. It hasn't. The name calling; by the very people who wish to not be called names. I don't, and can't understand the mentality. We are more than this. My parents taught me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all." That practice seems to be only pertinent when your candidate wins office. I long for unity. I long for no name calling; on either side. I long for there not to be sides. Differences. Yes. They challenge us; teach us. But no sides. We can learn from each other. No matter how different. There is ... View Post
