50 Years

20 Aug

It's been 50 years since this couple said I do. They are celebrating today,  in heaven. Together. We miss them. My brothers and I. My sisters in law too. Their friends. Both gone too soon. Today. I choose to remember. The good. It could be bad. And it was definitely bad at times. Somehow. It always turned around. Wrongs; forgiven. Or forgotten. Tempers that would flare; pacified. A deep sense of commitment  that transcended emotions or feelings. The commitment that walked through cancer and the memory thief. A love that digs deep and presses on. It ... View Post

I Can Scarcely Breath This Christmas Morning

25 Dec

Hush.  I hear the whisper.  Hush.  He calms my aching soul.  The empty stocking.  My nephews children without their dad.  My sister in law with out her son.  The news of another loss of a dad so loved in this community.  I can scarcely breathe this Christmas morning.  I hear the whisper as I drive to the barn.  Hush my child.  The strains of a loved Christmas Carol play, Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!Glory to God, all glory in the highest; Sing all ye citizens of ... We Can Laugh And We Can Dance, Because He Has Risen

5 Apr

He is risen! Just like he said.  His word; Truth.  He is risen.  He is coming back again.  All of creation will bow.  While we wait.  We seek to live as He did.  We bend knees to the ground in humble submission, as we ponder the walk to the cross.  And as the day dawns we live in hope.  Matthew 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. We live in the grace of a RISEN LORD.  Death could not hold him.  Acts 2:24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, ... View Post

Stepping Through The Plan I Do Not Understand

28 Feb

I will go to the funeral of a dear friend today.  It is also the 19th month Anniversary of our sons home going.  With many of the same people, we will celebrate the life of one lived so very well.  Through song and prayer we will lift our voices to the heavens.  We will remember.  Why does the pain of this life become overwhelming?  I feel some days that grief is all I know.  As my dad succumbs to the memory thief and we need to make decisions about  his care my heart feels so weighted.  This life ... The Reminder That There Is So Much More To Come

28 Oct

Philippians 3:10 But our citizenship is in heaven.  And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. I was 16 when I heard the song by Petra, "Not of This World" We are envoys, we must tarry With this message we must carry There's so much to do before we leave With so many more who may believe Our mission here can never fail And the gates of hell will not prevail We are strangers, we are aliens We are not of this world Read more: Petra - Not Of This World Lyrics | MetroLyrics  We had a singing group.  We sang this ... We Danced The Dance Of Laughter

22 Oct

We danced the dance of laughter. A strange sound echoing. Snorts from the youngest of the bunch.  Inability to sing grace.   Holy laughter.  It doesn't happen often.  But when it does it captures everyone.  Sweeps them into a sea of giggles.  For a time lost in sheer convulsions. Holy laughter.  It happened.   I am so grateful.  An evening with everyone home.  An intentional effort made, to be together.  Priceless. The deep journey of trying to live with something always not right. But isn't that the way it really ... View Post
