Are You Content?

Lent is almost over. We're heading into Holy Week. So many choose not to observe these practices. This year I have struggled to stay focused. The discipline and reach for more; difficult. The connectedness with my Savior; not there. The day dawned warmer. I took a walk in the afternoon sunshine. It's still too early to see signs of Spring. The daffodils, tulips and hyacinth are still cuddled deep in the earth; not willing to risk the bitter winds. The earth is slushy as I walk. The deep frost letting go. The river  plays a melody. Content, I walk on.  I love and hate this ... View Post

This Moment Counts

21 Mar

The sun streams in through the windows. Warmth. It's been so cold. The wind; relentless. Sunshine, scarce. I chase the sun through the rooms, as the afternoon gives way to evening. Even the evening is being chased. Days growing longer. This time of year is always a battle. A fight to enjoy each moment. Darkness; permeating all. Cold seeping through each crack and crevice in this old farmhouse. Lately, I can't seem to get warm. I cook and bake. I layer clothes. Still. I struggle. To get warm. This day. The sun shines. A glorious respite from the dark. Do not be ... View Post

Side by Side

30 Jan

The halls echo with a strange familiarity. The routine. Tests, scans, dr's visits. Forced date days. Side by side in waiting rooms. Small cubicles. Waiting; for tests, for results, for decisions. Side by side. Usually, I am eager to send out updates. To include the larger circle. For prayer. For support. This time. I couldn't. I couldn't type the words. I couldn't make the phone calls. I think the journey has just become too weary. But how can that be?  We serve a Mighty God. A God who has allowed all things to filter first, through His hands.  If I am walking hand in hand ... Listen

26 Jan

The discussions.  Is that what they're called?  Posts. So negative. So mean. Vindictive. Not a trace of a desire to discuss. Shouts. Loud expressions of self. Face book. A platform. To speak. Unedited. Uncensored. Why? Life is changed, when you go. Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." When you teach. When you Love. There is One King and ... View Post

The Definition of Love

23 Jan

“God's viewpoint is sometimes different from ours - so different that we could not even guess at it unless He had given us a Book which tells us such things.... In the Bible I learn that God values us not for our strength or our brains but simply because He has made us.” -Corrie Ten Boom The Hiding Place   I Corinthians 13:4-5 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. (emphasis mine) ... View Post

The Day I Lost Hope. . .

7 Jan

We sat at that farmhouse table, gathering documents. In the morning they would head out to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Months of planning, accepting donations, prayers. The final details. Prepared. Until the farm boy joked. He threw out the idea. "What if the passports were expired?" The seed of doubt; quickly became a reality. The college girl and farm boys passports would expire while they were in Haiti. The farm boy, brushed it off. We just need to trust. This farm mama began a journey new to her. I searched the internet for all information I possibly could find. I ... View Post
