Thankful Even When it Hurts Day # 6 of Thankfulness

6 Nov

I walk room to room. Picking up. Putting away. The way of a mom. The things that never seem to make it to its home. Though, I confess, not everything has a home. Why do I not look at the task with joy? I pick up a jacket. I look. It is my first born sons. I hold it. I breathe in deep; searching for him. This is so unfair.  I can't make sense of this loss. Today another mom buries her son. The victim of an angry fight. My heart aches for this mom I have never met. I hug the jacket close. The girls come in from the barn and I am drawn into the here and now. Their laughter ... View Post

To Hold the Moment

26 May

The petals danced in the wind.  Pale, pink blossoms showering the yard.  Spinning, whirling. Images of Anne of Green Gables The White Way of Delight flutter through my mind.  Delightful visions. This tree.  This moment.  I want to hold it.  The beauty. To behold.  If we choose.  I may have missed the significance; closed my eyes to what needed to be seen. We dash through life.  Event to event.  Attempts to numb pain.  Create a rush.  Rare do we pause;  until moments like this; create ... View Post

Living Life

29 Apr

A busy day.  Nothing new;  except the feeling.  All day.  Something.  Not right.  The Cast Party.  Families.  Dancers.  Food.  Decorating.  Arabian Nights.  Alladin.  So much to do.  Purposefully stepping one foot in front of the other.  Work.  Grief.  Talk truth.  Verse after verse.  To my weary heart.  Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. It ... View Post

Sunshine Spilled Over

28 Mar

Sunshine spilled over on Resurrection Sunday. Warmth. Family. Food. The empty tomb. The Cross set before us. A symbol. Hope. What was meant for evil. God meant for good. Sometimes you can't help but embrace the bad to understand the good.  2 years and 8 months.  A journey to walk with purpose. Seeking to discover, under the shadow of His wing. Ever longing for all to be made right. The tomb is empty. The Savior Risen. The hope of all Nations for a broken people. The sun beats down on us at my sister in laws. Her family walking the grief road. The first Easter ... View Post

Where Will This Journey Lead?

25 Mar

Hold me closeLet Your love surround meBring me nearDraw me to Your sideAnd as I waitI'll rise up like the eagleAnd I will soar with YouYour Spirit leads me onBy the power of Your love Words.  Ancient.  New.  Timely.  Perfect.  Words that penetrate the heart.  Reaching deep into the aching hole.  We can be refreshed and filled; even when we're hurting.  I never knew I could know such peace.  I never knew the intimacy I would feel with Christ when  so much had been torn from me.  I let the words wash over me as we ... How Will You Spend Lent?

10 Feb

Today is the beginning of Lent.  Jesus' journey into the wilderness. A journey he took willingly. Alone. For forty days. The bible is quiet on what happened during that time. One is left pondering what the Savior endured. We know his sustenance did not come from food. He feasted on time with God.  He knew what was coming. His time; short. Death drew near. Yet he purposed on. He went to the wilderness so he could feast on the Goodness that awaited. When Jesus stepped out from the wilderness. The enemy Satan was right there to greet him. He gave him no time or warning. He was ... View Post
