The Day I Lost Hope. . .

7 Jan

We sat at that farmhouse table, gathering documents. In the morning they would head out to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Months of planning, accepting donations, prayers. The final details. Prepared. Until the farm boy joked. He threw out the idea. "What if the passports were expired?" The seed of doubt; quickly became a reality. The college girl and farm boys passports would expire while they were in Haiti. The farm boy, brushed it off. We just need to trust. This farm mama began a journey new to her. I searched the internet for all information I possibly could find. I ... View Post

Will You Give on Giving Tuesday? Day #29 of Thankfulness

29 Nov

The smell of haylage lingers. The cows are content in the early morning. Their routine. Care given in the choice of feed. Optimum milk production crucial to our existence. Diligence in so many areas. A farmers work is never done. He toils and spins even while he sleeps. He gives continually. As my farmer cares and provides for his animals his heart lingers in another country. He ponders better ways. He seeks wisdom. He longs to be free to go, yet loves the land he has been given to steward. So we pray. Do we go from one mess to another? Today is Giving Tuesday. The ... You Can Go – You Can Even Go, by Staying

21 Oct

It's raining. It's lightening. Folks are huddled under sheets of tin. Already bashed from the effects of Hurricane Matthew; they are weary. What can you do?  I sense it in my farmers voice. I read between the lines in his texts. There's so much devastation. People are on the side of the road hollering for food. Trucks are being stopped and raided to take the food. There are road blocks. A broken people, in a broken nation; hurting.  And even going seems like it's not enough. Why do the battered and broken keep receiving the blows?  What should our response be?  My farmer and ... Hold on Haiti, They’re Coming

15 Oct

To Haiti, with love. We're gathering supplies. Making arrangements. Rearranging life; to go. Because that's what we're called to do. To go.  Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" Hold on Haiti. They're coming. With strong backs. Knees bent low. Hearts bursting. Suitcases brimming. They're coming to stand beside you. Where you feel discouraged. They will lift you up. You see, you can stand on your own. One day you will.  You are strong Haiti. You just don't know it. We're here ... View Post

We Will Go Where He Leads

13 Oct

It's all over the news. The death of 5 teens. Tragic. Heart breaking. I relive the night of Elijah's death. My heart aches for these families. Friends. Relatives. So much loss. So much pain. It feels senseless and overwhelming. A hurricane bashes a tired nation. Presidential candidates mock the very fabric of our nation. The destruction wreaked by one car on an interstate. I close the door. I turn and walk out of my parents home. Possibly for the last time. I can not stop the sobs that wrack my body. So much loss. So much devastation. How can you be immune? How can you ... View Post

Jesus Came to Change Our Lives. Not Our Circumstances.

16 Jan

Last year.  My farmer and College girl where in Haiti on this day.  Now they've been again.  Here is a re-post of thoughts on Water.  One of our most important resources.  Do You Have A Decent Source of Water?  John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give them  will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." Water An integral part of our life.  Without it; we can not survive.  Yet there are nations that struggle.  Clean drinking ... View Post
