Our front porch is dotted with bits of snow. The first Nor'Easter about to blow. While the snow is early and we're not ready, we're still stepping into Gratitude because that is the way forward. Surrendering our hearts each day, in Gratitude, to the One whose Name is above all Names. A re-post from last year. May we never forget to thank our Veteran's. ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` November 11, 2018 Happy Birthday Marines! 30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #2 When the River Spills
When the Brown's River spills its bank there is havoc everywhere. The turbulent waters plowed through the boundaries that keep us all safe. Those rushing waters eroded the earth and rock meant for stability. They pushed and slithered out of the normal path. The eerie scene of water where water should not be. It is hard to get your bearings. Land marks disappear. Road ways become a sea of brown chaos. Such was the picture as daylight peeked over the mountain. Grey, angry skies giving way to the milky blue beneath. News began trickling in on how various roads were closed. Waters ... View Post
Would I Still Have Said, “yes”?
Would I still have said , "yes" had I known how marriage would be? Our feelings get hurt. Life races at warped speed creating a vacuum and time is not available. Time needed to work out issues or express feelings. It's just not there. There's deadlines, and kids. Meals to prepare, houses to clean, bills to pay, homework, ball games, dances, ministry, you name it. So. many. distractions. We're misunderstood. It's not always easy being married. Even after 26 years. Yet, isn't that the challenge? How do we make it, "against all odds?" I don't know. I really don't. All around us ... View Post
May I Have Your Attention?
May I have your attention? Good. We have an announcement. And we'll have more coming up later this month! So, stay tuned. I haven't been writing. The busyness of the day, leaves me exhausted. Thoughts. Emotions. Tyranny of the urgent. I have run to the pen and paper and wrestled the thoughts there in a leather bound journal. Swirling, whirling ideas and feelings. These times are rich and full. Life. Graduations and new adventures. Visits with farmettes and their parents. The oldest pursuing a master's degree, the Nurse starting her job, the farm boy so busy with ... View Post
A Dog I didn’t Want
I didn't want him. I had no desire to have a dog. Definitely not an indoor dog. We live on a dairy farm; on a dirt road. I already struggle with a clean house and an indoor dog would not help. We had indulged our daughter with her purchase of a dog. Justified by small and hypo-allergenic. That sweet puppy, Pemberly, was hit by a car and died in my arms. 2 weeks later our son died in the middle of the night with me no where near. 2 months later my farmer was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and began a fight for his life. So getting a puppy or taking care of another ... View Post
Yesterday Was A Day of Things
I did a thing yesterday. Actually a few things. Different things. Different for me anyway. I cleared off this table. For me, this is a big deal. Surfaces tend to get cluttered here. There is always book work needing to be done. Checks to write. Money to move around. Balancing. Praying. Keep those plates spinning. Don't let them drop. Mail, letters, lists, calendars. All pile up. Then dinner time arrives and the piles are pushed to the end of the table or piled higher. Because dinner is a rush to get to the next thing. It is a daily battle. A vicious ... View Post
