Would I Still Have Said, “yes”?

16 Oct

Would I still have said , "yes" had I known how marriage would be? Our feelings get hurt.  Life races at warped speed creating a vacuum and time is not available. Time needed to work out issues or express feelings. It's just not there. There's deadlines, and kids. Meals to prepare, houses to clean, bills to pay, homework, ball games, dances, ministry, you name it. So. many. distractions. We're misunderstood.  It's not always easy being married. Even after 26 years. Yet, isn't that the challenge? How do we make it, "against all odds?" I don't know. I really don't. All around us ... View Post

My Friend, Years From Now

16 Oct

I  awoke early that morning. A content, exciting feeling washing over me. I was marrying my friend. It was a good thing too. Our journey would take us through many hills and valleys. Uncharted territory. Christ as our compass. Joined together. Friends. Just a month before he had proposed in a horse barn at the Tunbridge Fair. He asked if I would spend a life time being friends? We would taste bitterness and disappointment. Child birth and child death. 'Til death do you part passed beneath our doors. For richer has not knocked too often. . .  poorer has been a constant ... 24 Years And Counting

16 Oct

I was 25 and  knew nothing of the pain down the road. I knew only bliss and joy. Hope and contentment. I knew rich love and much grace. On a beautiful fall day I said, "I do", before family and friends. I pledged my love through sickness and health until, "death do us part". I walked down a make shift aisle in the field of my farmer's family. I gazed at the foliage and family and friends surrounding us. . . but I barely saw them. Instead I saw a future and a hope with the man standing before me. It's been 24 years since that beautiful day. I'd do it again. Even knowing what we ... View Post

I Love This Farm

17 Sep

I Love this Farm; and the Farmer who lives here.  There is no place I'd rather be. The open fields, rushing waters, looming mountains, display the majesty of God beautifully. Here, I sense the very presence of God even when I feel far, far away.                 Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.   Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for ... View Post

We’ve Always Had Enough

14 Feb

We've always had enough. Never too much. Sometimes barely enough. But enough. He's been my one and only. My farmer. Though, not perfect, we've made our way. We've known heartache and pain, and joy and contentment.   People scoff at Valentine's Day. Poking fun. Seeing it as an over inflated, embellished, money making scheme. I'm enchanted. Enchanted by my farmer. Uniquely creating a fun day. The farming way. I may never have had a fancy dinner, jewelry or gifts. Most days I was so exhausted from work, kids, farm work, house work, etc to even remember. But he has ... View Post

23 And Counting

16 Oct

23 years and counting. I love him just as much as I did back then. Different though. It was a story book wedding. I'd do it all over again. So much fun. Such a beautiful day. Look at the Farm Niece and the Oldest Farm girl! This year we're getting ready for Haiti. So much to do in precious little time. This is what love is. Going to a Nation in need. Heeding the call.  Loving the other for their heart to go. We've walked through fire. We're still grieving the deep loss of our son. We're still believing that cancer is at bay. We're learning to dance to a different ... View Post
