My mom's favorite time of year. She would transform her log cabin into the "Christmas House". Lights and magic happened there. Somehow she wove the magic and holiness of Christmas together in a beautiful package. A night when Heaven met earth; where a Jolly man dressed in red gave all he had. These two beliefs rooted deeply. Her presence lit up a room. Much like her grandson. Today. It's been 4 years since she drew her last breath. Surrounded by my dad and my sister in law, the Lord reached down to bring her to his side. An agonizing death. The clutches of cancer refusing to ... View Post
It Won’t Hurt. . .Will You Take A Little Time?
Three years ago I wrote this post. As we step into the Season of Thanksgiving may you be encouraged by these truths. Will you join with me over the next 30 days giving Thanks and Praise? Even when the going is rough and your heart feels overwhelming grief? Will you take this walk with us? 3o Days of Thankfulness November 1, 2013 The Halloween festivities are over. The candy hidden away from other siblings. Clarissa is still out. I climb the stairs to kiss the girls goodnight. I linger at his door. I look around. How does it come to this? How can I be left ... He is Able
I fold laundry and I pray. I pray over each sweet piece of fabric. Each shirt, pair of pants. I hold them close. I pray for this college girl who is home. Home to celebrate the life of her cousin. Taken too soon; in our eyes. This college girl who has lost a brother too. And I make piles. Neat piles. I love to fold laundry. I love the smell. Shirts together. Pants together. Unmentionables together. Neat piles. Clean. Orderly. But I can't ever seem to to get the piles ... View Post
Graduation, Ambulances and Parties. . . Oh My!
I am learning that life is not about what we want or desire. That at every turn our spirit needs to be yielded to the Almighty. Life can be unpredictable. Our response to the events placed in our path can make or break us. We can plan and prepare. We live. When our hearts are nurtured; surrendered to a life with God; life can still be harsh. Graduation was looming. Party preparations under way. Months of planning. Days of preparing. Such fun. New beginnings. Graduation day dawned ... View Post
When You Measure Life in Months
The 28th has rolled around again. Life is like that. The beat ever steady. Moving forward. Relentless. 22 months have passed. Each day reliving, longing. Trying to shake the words, "There's been an accident." Longing for my boy. Longing for the way things were. Yet, longing to be more like Christ. Yearning to made into His likeness. That my words and actions reflect the deep love He has shown us. And I fall short. My words and actions the very opposite of what they need to be. So, I surrender ... View Post
We Can Laugh And We Can Dance, Because He Has Risen
He is risen! Just like he said. His word; Truth. He is risen. He is coming back again. All of creation will bow. While we wait. We seek to live as He did. We bend knees to the ground in humble submission, as we ponder the walk to the cross. And as the day dawns we live in hope. Matthew 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. We live in the grace of a RISEN LORD. Death could not hold him. Acts 2:24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, ... View Post
