The choices we make each day say a lot about us. Coffee perks as I begin to sort out the day before me. Even before I open my eyes, I try to enter into Thanksgiving. My tendency is to whine and complain. It's cold. My bed is warm. Yet, my farmer has already been up for hours. I thank God for my farmer and my warm bed. And so my day begins focusing on that for which I am grateful. The hope which is before us. I pour my coffee and again enter into thankfulness. Choices made. I get frustrated easily. I am quick to point out flaws in someone, or something else. Gratitude keeps ... View Post
30 Days of Thankfulness Day #3 How Did We Get Here?
How did we get here? The beginning of November. Trees shed their leaves. Mornings greet us with a chill. We linger over hot cups of coffee wondering how the day will unfold. With the recent flooding haying is finished. We had held out hope for one more cutting. That decision has been made. Winter looms ever before us. I wonder, how did we get here? Times seems to evaporate these days. I long to slow the marching clock. We set the clock back an hour last night. Well, somehow, somewhere, these high tech phones we have do it themselves. I manually change the microwave and ... View Post

How Will You Make It Through
Do you ever wonder how you'll make it through? Really. Financially every thing is a mess. It's upside down and you can't make sense of it. You've lost a loved one and the pain is intense. You wonder how you'll make it through? You wake up and the sun is shining and you wonder how can that sun shine on a day like today? We've been there. More than once. Time after time wondering how this can be? How can the world still be spinning? We walk into the hospital laughing, holding hands. These trips are familiar. Almost 6 years. Daily for 13 weeks. Then once a month. Then every 3 ... View Post
Day #30 of Thankfulness
Sometimes walking through the archives of our blog is such a good practice. I am reminded of how God knows and is in control of our future. He is working his purpose in and through us no matter our circumstances. A repost from November 30, 2013 I walk out of the bedroom to start my coffee. There are sleeping bags all over the living room. I pick up the pot and plug it in the bathroom so not to disturb anyone. I have a blondie in my bed who had a headache in the middle of the night. I start the laundry and fold a load while I wait for the coffee. My phone is plugged in, in the middle of ... View Post
Despite our Circumstances, Day #29 of Thankfulness
Thankfulness despite our circumstances. Some times the Thankfulness comes in a long list. We spout off a litany of things we are grateful for. Almost as an after thought. Food, family, shelter. As if we take them for granted. We expect to be Thankful for them. Yet our basic Thankful list is often the hearts cry of others. Those longing for shelter. The cry of a mom for a child. The basic need of food and water agonizingly not met. Grief amidst war torn areas. Yet gratitude flows. Despite their circumstances. People marginalized yet thanks and joy radiate. How can this be? Our ... View Post
