Be On The Look Out, Day #20 of Thankfulness

20 Nov

Be on the look out. When your day gets so bogged down in the every day it's hard to see very far. A situation we're dealing with here on the farm didn't work out so well My farmer and I were both just searching for why this had to happen. I felt disillusioned with mankind, betrayed, and beaten down. I pulled clothes out of drawers to clean to try to process this event. (I don't usually like to clean, but this helped) I dug into the Ancient Word searching for truth and meaning. Still coming up empty. Be on the look out. Maybe sometimes there isn't an answer. Sometimes the ... View Post

30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #8, What Does God Require From Us?

8 Nov

Milk prices are at an all time low. There is much talk about dairy not being able to rebound. Farms are going out of business at an alarming rate. It is not easy being a small business. Folks say they support small businesses yet, their actions show otherwise. Legal hoops, Environmental and Conservation practices, while we support most of them, often hurt us. What does God require from us?  We spin around and around as to how to cut back. How can we reduce expenses? We're still so far behind in chores and repairs to be done. We wonder how long do we come to the table and have this ... View Post

30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #1, Start Somewhere

1 Nov

30 days of Thankfulness.  The air was crisp and the sky so clear. A beautiful fall evening. We walked to see the Pumpkin Glow. For more than 25 years our neighbors have lovingly grown a sea of pumpkins. They carve and display them the night before and of Halloween. Neighbors come out, folks from all over walk to see the sight. It is the start of the season of gratitude. Gratitude- the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. "The quality of being thankful." "Gratitude turns what we have, into enough." The practice of gratitude helps us ... View Post

He Knows our Name Day #27 of Thankfulness

27 Nov

Looking back is a practice I need.  I journal to remind myself.  I read God's word for the reminders of hope and promises.  Looking back is a gift.  Sometimes hard and painful  Often uplifting.  Reminding us of the faithfulness set before us.  2 Peter 1:12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. Many things are still true this day.  We are grateful for so much.  We will get our tree.  We will step into the Advent season with great expectation.  The ... View Post

Reflections On The Day After Day #28 of Thankfulness

28 Nov

It's the day after.  The day after 22 people for dinner. The day after we bowed low in Thanksgiving for the deep gift we have been given.  After the Turkey and pies and steaming cups of coffee.  After giggles and playing in snow.  Now, it is the wee hours of quiet; the day after.  One daughter off to work.  Retail and Black Friday.  My farmer; milking, overseeing all that needs to be done.  It is also 16 months since our red head walked this earth.  2 Thanksgivings he has rejoiced with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 2 ...
