The earth groaned as a young one fought. Battles we didn't know. And a family's life now forever changed. The ache is deep and once again a Community grieves. I wail and cry out for the mama's who bury their babies. What kind of burial will there be? How does one grieve in a Pandemic, when isolation is life giving? Or so we thought? I comfort my kids as they rail against another loss. I breathe deep and run to the only source of strength I have left. . . Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in ... View Post
A re-post on Community
I posted this 3-24-18. I'm missing these gatherings and sense of Community. Yet, there is something else happening. I hope we all notice and take note. We're being creative. There's a sense of slowness. Neighbors helping neighbors. A little more outward perspective is happening. I don't want to miss the lessons we need to learn in this time. `````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` March 24, 2018 Small town living. What To Do With The Day In Between
33 times the bell tolls. One for each year of Jesus' life. We sit in silence; in the dark. A candle extinguished after each reading. Until... We sit in darkness. The old church sighs with the years of reverence. I want to sit here longer. To linger. Many begin their pilgrimage to the doors. The lights come on. I want to sit in the dark a little longer. I want to feel and remember. Jesus. What he did for me. I wrestle with my thoughts. Why did he give all. . . for a retch like me? My soul yearns for this holiness; these moments of quiet reflection. My life races each ... View Post
Snow! That White Stuff.
Snow! Lots of it too. Heavy, wet, white. A wonderland. The perfect back drop for Vermont's Maple Weekend! Sugar on Snow. A long walk to the Sugar House. Quintessential Vermont. Along with the beauty, this storm also brings much extra work. The mud, from the previous weeks thaw combined with the snow, leaves ruts and a disaster. Plowing is a muddy, rutty and just plain mess. My farmer spends hours plowing the barn driveway, then our drive way. We have Guests arriving to our Davis Farm Guest House , so that driveway needs work. I begin to make a soup. Ground sausage, onions ... View Post
We Have to be Careful of the Ice
The sun has been shining for a few days now! It's been glorious. The first few days it was so cold; the sunshine deceiving. Then, the sunshine brought warmth. The temperature hovered above freezing. Just barely. The sunshine began ever so slightly to melt the snow. A beautiful sound. Water dripping from the roof. But it's not over. Winter still has a grip. The temperature drops and all the melting becomes ice. . . again. We have to be careful of the ice. It lurks often right beneath the freshly fallen snow. Masked by the white. Deceived. There are so many things in our ... View Post
Small Town Living – Community
Small town living. Community. A fun reminder today of the uniqueness of this place we call home. The sun shone brightly. The temperatures tipped the scale at 34! The wind ceased it's assault and for moments it felt warm. I hung my sheets to dry. The change isn't here yet. But soon. Very soon the wind will shift and bring the warmer air. Some brave birds have taken up their chorus of welcome I head to the local market. Still fairly new, I marvel at how quickly I can get there. I drop the farm girls off at the Middle School, and head over to the store. I think of the years this ... View Post
