The earth groaned as a young one fought.
Battles we didn’t know.
And a family’s life now forever changed.
The ache is deep and once again a Community grieves.
I wail and cry out for the mama’s who bury their babies.
What kind of burial will there be?
How does one grieve in a Pandemic, when isolation is life giving?
Or so we thought?
I comfort my kids as they rail against another loss.
I breathe deep and run to the only source of strength I have left. . .
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Because those Ancient Words are worth clinging to.
When the world spins upside down and our days turn to weeks; truth always reigns.
There is hope beyond us; beyond our thoughts and intellect.
It is a hope set deep within each of us.
Awakened by surrender.
Clung to by grace.
A gift given.
Promises made; So that all may live.
Holy Week is before us.
The journey to the cross.
A sacrifice.
What have we left to sacrifice?
What holds us back?
The surrender to the One who created us and calls us by Name is a step.
God is longing to carry our burdens.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
He knows the weight we hold within.
He knows the struggle.
Lay it down.
Give it all over today
Let Him comfort your aches and hold the tears that flow.
Psalm 56:8
You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
Our hope is not in this world.
This is not our home.
We were not meant for death.
We are a people chosen and meant for life.
Everlasting life.
Jesus will return.
He is coming to finish what He started.
He is coming to gather the broken hearted and those that ache.
He is coming to restore His kingdom.
His offer of love is extended to all.
His hope and grace is free.
The comfort and peace He brings is yours.
Invite him in to the deep ache.
Allow Him to hold those tender spots.
Step out in Praise when the dark feels like closing in.
When our oldest farm boy met Jesus on a beautiful summer evening; I stepped my way through in Praise.
When words failed; I praised my God.
When the ache consumed I stepped forward in praise.
It is the language first taught to our souls.
It makes despair flee.
I am chosen; not forsaken.
I am a child of God.
Yes, I am.
