Just Before Dawn

3 Feb

Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The dark still lingers.  Coffee perked.  The morning sounds beginning.  My farmer and girls; still milking.  The pause before the day begins.  One of my favorite times of day.  It is the time I feel most in tune with my Savior.  The time when my heart is full.  When I feel strong.  It is after my feet have touched the floor.  The moments where my soul has been refreshed in ... When the Quiet Still Hangs in the Air

9 Jan

While the early morning quiet still hung in the air.  The phone rang. Love on the line from Haiti.  A quick hello and good bye.  While the news blares Presidential Candidate  updates and tolerance and intolerance are debated.  A group is in Haiti.  Sharing, loving, building, sweating in the name of Jesus.  The noon time heat is intense.  So they chose to get to work early.  They headed to the boys home to build a Safe-T home.  Temporary shelter for a people longing for a home.  New beginnings; glimmers ... Overcoming Evil with Good Day # 14 of Thankfulness

14 Nov

Praying for Paris.  As the first wave of news reports began, I contacted friends who live in the city.  Part of their family I knew were here in the states on holiday.  The others; in that city of love.  Contact made.  In shock.  But safe.  As the events unfold, the harsh reality of hatred is prevalent.  How do we get to this point? The presence of evil; great.  Fear inevitable.  An apparent success.  Ergo the term, terrorism.  But that is not the final word.  The story does not end there.  There is a God who ... View Post

The Icy Fear That Can Grip So Suddenly

28 Jun

Will this ever be easy?  Will waiting for the children to come home ever feel safe again?  I hold my breath. I feel tense.  My spirit unsettled.  Waiting.  For the axe to drop.  Anticipating the negative.  Icy cold fear.  It creeps in.  Slowly.  While you're not aware.  It is there.  Gripping.  Choking.  The dawn will come and it will be 23 months  since my boy walked the face of this earth.  23 months since I have felt normal, It has been 23 months of putting one foot in front of the ... When Your Prayers Aren’t Answered. . . The Way You Wanted

2 Jun

I wake to overcast skies. The dreariness overwhelming. I blink back the tears that threaten to spill over. The pull to stay in bed; real.  I dig for the Praises. I begin to name them one by one. There really are so many. I seek to push through. It's the only way. I read my journey of this day last year. June 2, 2014. My heart gains courage. I step into the kitchen. It is so cold. I grab a steaming (literally) cup of coffee and settle on to the couch wrapped in flannel pajama's and a shining hope.  I  begin to peck out my ... View Post

Do You Have Plans For The Next 40 Days? ( a re-post from the archives)

18 Feb

Today is the beginning of Lent. A practice many in the Christian church do not observe. A practice centuries old; representing Jesus' time in the quiet; in the wilderness. It was during this time he was tempted by Satan; Matthew 4:3-4 The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" It was during this time that he fasted for 40 days. A time when he was tired, hungry and weak. He withdrew from all the chaos and ... View Post
