John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." Water An integral part of our life. Without it; we can not survive. Yet there are nations that struggle. Clean drinking water - scarce. Their survival in the balance. Poverty a way of life. Needy. Jesus repeatedly used analogies involving water. It is something we all need. Crave. Can not live without. Yet, He ... View Post
Today. Today They Go
They are leaving their own problems behind. Breakdowns, financial woes, planting, harvesting and milking. Leaving it behind for 10 days. These farmers are stepping away from the land they love, to go. Many of them needing much help. Have much to do. Pressing deadlines. But in the middle of a cold and snowy winter, they are boarding planes. From Iowa, from Vermont; they are going. They have felt the call; the nudge to do more. To be a people that says, "yes". They will build in the sod of this earth, with ... View Post
Getting Ready To Go
In 2 days my farmer and his daughter are leaving. They are flying with love and prayers to a third world country. A life long dream for both of them. Because of your generosity, financially and prayerfully, these two are going to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We pack suitcases full of baby cereal and formula. I pray. We want this bag to hold these tangible items but more importantly We want the love of Jesus to be known. We have known help. We have know grace. In the face of dire financial times and ... View Post
What I Missed This Christmas
I'm pretty sure I took no pictures. I don't have a camera and my cell phone has too many photos. I felt off the whole day. Most of the day I really wanted to be alone. Me; the extrovert. Alone. I watched endless episodes of "Gilmore Girls"; not stopping until I looked at my watch, horrified that it was past the time to go to bed. The house; a wreck. I hardly picked up a thing. I go to bed with an empty feeling. It's not until the morning, when I walk out into the living room and survey the ... View Post
She’s Growing Up And I Am Powerless to Stop It
She flashes those baby blues. She is beautiful. She has grown inches over the past year. All the kids have. Death and cancer have that effect. Her tender heart still unsure. Her writing reflecting her struggle. She turns 12 today. Her last year before the teens. And I marvel at how she has grown. How this little baby born on one of the holiest of nights, has turned into a lovely young woman. Her smile lights up a room. She is the first to snuggle of all our kids. Her ... View Post
The Farmer’s Wife I Called Mother In Law
I can still feel the peace when I entered her home. The country charm. The warmth. The smells. The open door. Oh, how I loved and admired her. She could bring a calf to the barn as easy as whipping up a tasty meal. There was always room on her lap for one more. Room at the table for another to sit. Always time for coffee. There was always a solution to every problem. Life was a journey with God as her companion. Her creative touch transforming gardens and rooms into things of beauty. The light left ... View Post
