Sometimes walking through the archives of our blog is such a good practice. I am reminded of how God knows and is in control of our future. He is working his purpose in and through us no matter our circumstances. A repost from November 30, 2013 I walk out of the bedroom to start my coffee. There are sleeping bags all over the living room. I pick up the pot and plug it in the bathroom so not to disturb anyone. I have a blondie in my bed who had a headache in the middle of the night. I start the laundry and fold a load while I wait for the coffee. My phone is plugged in, in the middle of ... View Post
Snow, Day #28 of Thankfulness
The branches are heavy laden. Snow fell most of the day. After school activities were cancelled. It was a virtual Winter Wonderland. With snow comes an added burden of work. Paths and driveways need to be plowed and shoveled. The weight of the snow can be treacherous to this old farm house. 3 times the house shook as the snow fell off the peaks onto the porch roof. The final blow cracking a main supporting beam that was already compromised. My farmer spent the rest of the afternoon shoveling snow off the roof and placing braces. He was late getting in again. . . Sometimes I ... View Post
Day #27 of Thankfulness
Have these 27 days changed you? Is thanks more on your lips than not? They say it takes 30 days to establish a habit. We're almost there. My default is not thankfulness yet. It is still work. I hope the thanks comes a little quicker. We have named our thanks for 6 years of Novembers on this page. We have to want to change. We need to want it bad enough that it becomes a priority. I want to be a grateful person. I want to see beauty before the harsh. That is not always the case. I tend to be critical and judgmental. Harsh before soft. I'm trying. I try not to say everything ... View Post

A Snow Day, Day #17 of Thankfulness
A snow day. There was nothing spectacular about the day. It was truly busy. Cleaning. Laundry. Errands. A snow day for the kids. I had a long list of things to accomplish. They canceled school. I love having my kids home. My list would have to wait. A frittata and bagels on the menu. Hot coffee and fellowship around the farmhouse table. It was late when we left to work on errands. They went quickly. We stopped for coffee. Still using a gift from a friend. We arrived home. The kids were wound up! They're teenagers! They should know better. Christmas music on the ... View Post
Coming Home, Day #16 of Thankfulness
She's coming home today! I can't wait. Our college girl has clinical and then will make the journey North. This is her last "Journey North" for Thanksgiving while in College. Where in the world did the time go? I drove to pick her up with a friend for the first year. So many day trips down and back. Now, she drives her own car, and next year, only God knows. She's coming home and I'm so excited. Her bed is freshly made with clean sheets. I'll vacuum and add a few special touches today. She has asthma pretty bad and our home is not the cleanest. I will spend much of today trying ... View Post
