Two and half years of Missing, Two and a Half Years of Much Grace

28 Jan

Two and a half years.  The beautiful words of remembrance, faded away.  Time passing.  Life moving forward.  Memories; a gift.  The Lord's sweet provision.  A gift to be treasured.  A legacy of photo's.  God made sure there were pieces to hold on to.  A heart full of memories.  I still don't like this plan.  My whole being longs for a different path.  But that is not to be.  So, with my whole heart I will praise the One who calls me by ... When the Missing is Deep

17 Dec

Hi Elijah.  I miss you so much.  They are coming out with a new Star Wars movie.  The products are all over the place.  It's been so fun to look - at all the stuff.  To remember when I was a kid.  But then. . . I got to the Lego aisle.  And I still can't stop the racking sobs.  They threaten to undo me.  Our last Christmas together you got a Star Wars Lego kit.  You were a Senior in High School.  Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Yet the one item you pulled yourself away from the family for was, a lego ... When You’re Decking the Halls and You Feel Like Checking Out

4 Dec

In a moment he was gone.  The police stood at my door.  Accident.  Death.  Wake.  Funeral.  All words connected to my child.  What do you call a parent who has lost a child? Who am I?  I am broken hearted.  I ache from deep within.  Year 3 of Christmas without my boy.  Year 4 without my mom.  I am decking the halls.  Playing Christmas music.  Remembering.  Every ornament I pull out I am reminded.  His name; the year.  Given by my mom.  I quiet the onslaught of grief. The lights ... View Post

What? November is Over Already? Day # 30 of Thankfulness

30 Nov

We were off the farm for a little over 24 hours. Attending a baptism.  Being with family.  Trying to embrace this new change.  Pushing through the loss and grief and all we have known.  We have been blessed.  It's so hard because it was so good.  Not perfect.  At all.  But good.  And the memories made; a treasure.  We want that for our kids.  Memories.  Laughter.  Family.  Grace.  This last day of November is the 30th day of Thankfulness.  My how this month has flown by.  Each day ... Will You Help, So They Can Go? Day #24 of Thankfulness

24 Nov

Missions. What do you think when you hear the word?  Overseas? Foreign country?  For the first 15 years of my life I attended a Methodist Church.  Missional in its purpose.  I remember filling barrels with clothing to send over seas.  I remember the barrels.  We prayed continually for other countries and the missionaries.  Vacation Bible School was a challenge to raise funds to purchase chickens and milk for families in need.  I remember holding tightly to the quarter in my hot sweaty hand. I remember the poster board chart.   The ... View Post
