This construction stuff is beyond me. I'm so thankful for those who do "get it". I remember Trig class in High School. I think the teachers name was Ms. Hume. I remember asking her, specifically, what would I use parabola's for? She said, "Building the Golden Gate Bridge and all those other wonders of the world." To myself I thought. . . . I want to be a mom. Why am I taking this class? I am Thankful I took that class. I am Thankful for learning things beyond my sphere of understanding. Yet, it is beyond me. I feel that way now, drinking steaming cups of coffee around the farmhouse ... View Post
30 Days of Thankfulness, Finding Rest in the Chaos, Day #15
When you look around it's chaos. Barn roofing, piles (neat piles); but piles. There's equipment and open spaces where a barn used to be. Headlocks lay as they fell. Beams cut off. I walk through the area. I pray. We want to be faithful. This is not our space. Not our land. Nothing is ours. It belongs to the LORD. Long ago my farmer and I knelt together and surrendered this place to Him. The one who counts the stars. The one who Promises to never leave us nor forsake us. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the ... View Post
30 Days of Thankfulness, Which Way Do We Turn? Day #12
The snow begins to fall. The temperatures have dropped. There is snow on the mountain. It is absolutely breathtaking. The Seasons never disappoint here in the North East. There is beauty every where in every thing. Yet, today I work hard to have my heart match that beauty. I name the things for which I am thankful. Large decisions over shadow each step of our journey. They feel weighty and heavy. So much at stake. My farmer works hard already, now added to his burden are huge decisions. We seek earthly counsel. We storm the heavenlies. With temperatures dropping and the ... View Post
30 Days of Thankfulness, Change, Day #7
The Demo has started. Years of memories and treasured living; changing. I am Thankful for those memories. Honestly. It's too many changes. Change is hard. It is an unwelcome companion right now. But, God is at work. I can not see what He is doing. He is keeping it from me. The story is not over. I know He is doing something. I am Thankful: That God is at work He is bigger than all my fears His story is better than mine For friends who continue to hold us up for my coffee buddy- I am so grateful God sent him our way for coffee and a fire on these cold ... 30 Days of Thankfulness, I’m Still Processing, Day #5
I'm still processing. People ask me how we're doing. You know they care. They look you in the eye. They ask you that deep question. How are you? Most of the time I say, "I'm still processing." Last night our girls, with the Vermont Youth Dancers, had the opportunity to perform on the stage at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center. What an amazingly great opportunity. It's been just the distraction we've needed. Watching the girls do what they LOVE. (There are still tickets available!!!! Just go to Spruce Peak Performing Arts in Stowe!) But it's also about being ... View Post
30 Days of Thankfulness, Are You Naming Your Gratitude? Day#3
"This isn't how I would write it. But I have known and seen again and again that God writes the better story. God sends the manna, all that we need even when we do no understand it. " Katie Davis Majors I read these words and wrote them in my journal on October 29, 2017. In the early hours of October 30, 2017 we woke to roaring winds and a devastating wind storm. This storm tore apart our 2 main dairy cow barns. It twisted metal like as if it were a Twizzler. (Halloween was Tuesday- candy is on my mind) Since Monday folks have reached out, once again, to show love and support. We ... View Post
