Maybe God Thought America Needed A Reset?

Wow.
It’s all I can muster these days.
Wow.
I wonder how these days will go down in history?

Will they be known as the days of selfishness and hoarding?
Or will we be known for turning Panic to Peace?
And Fear to Faith?
Maybe America needed a reset?

Will the news be filled with acts of kindness far beyond the scope of imagination?
Or will we hear of greed and senseless acts of harm?

As farmers, the day to day will continue.
Animals need to be fed.

Chores need to be done.
A routine.
A rhythm.
A steady beat our oldest son seemed to thrive on.

Our nation; our world is facing uncharted waters.
The fear of the unknown is so real.
Which way do we turn?
How does one prepare?
Our minds race to preparations. . .
And panic sets in.  .  .

Shelves at the market are bare.
Eyes are glued to the news each day.
Waiting.
Listening.
Panic wallows  in the deep places of most people.

I offer another approach to the Fear.
Faith.
Faith in God.
A God who calls us by name.
The God who by His very breath commanded the seas to form and the earth to have shape.

Genesis 1:1-3

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
² And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

³ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

The God who formed us in our mothers womb-
Called this world to be with a word- The Ancient Word.

That Ancient Word has power; power to heal and comfort.
His word is Truth.

Schools are closed.
So many businesses are closing.
Uncertainty hangs in the air.
Maybe America needed a reset?

God tells us to;
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

He says to fear not, for He is with you.
Have Faith.

Have faith. . . in Him. 

We turn fear to faith; panic to peace.

In John 6 Jesus feeds the 5,000.
He knows their needs.

He knows they need physical nourishment, as well as spiritual.

He is a good Father and delights in His children.
He provides for them.

During this time of uncertainty and unknown, I can’t help but think about how God knows what we need.
We are in the Season of Lent.
A time of preparation.
A time of fasting for Jesus in preparation for what He was facing.
For His people.
So too are we in a Season of waiting. . .

Maybe this Pandemic will be a blessing.
Maybe God thought America needed a reset?
A refocusing of priorities.
We needed a time out.

Families are home together.
Schooling is taking place by the very people who know their kids the best.
Memories will be made.
Maybe America needed a reset?

It’s a time for family dinners and deep conversation.
A time for connection.
Read aloud.
Listen to music.
Be together. 

A time to gather to pray for those in our world.

Let’s get to know our neighbors and their needs.
Church buildings are closed.
But church is very much in session.
The church is you and me.

I couldn’t help but think on Sunday when all those people weren’t in church what a difference we could all make.
Use that time to write a letter to an elderly neighbor.
Make a basket to leave at their door.
Do yard work for someone.
There’s so much we can do for each other.

Maybe there will be revival?
An awakening of the very core of our beings.
Maybe America needed a reset?

We’re slowing down.
We’re pulling together.
A time of refreshing.
Refocusing.
Just as Spring is about to burst forth, so could something wonderful.

I know it’s stressful and uncertain.

Let’s turn a potentially negative situation into one of the greatest times in our History.
Maybe America needed a reset?

Isaiah 43:19
See, I am doing a new thing!
    Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.
