There is Strength in the Surrender Day #11 of Thankfulness

It is in the Surrender that we are the most strong.
When we lay it all down.
That the power is fully engaged.
Surrender-  to give the control or use of (something) to someone else
When we bow, humbly before the Cross.
We are strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” . . .

It is funny how that is.
The tighter we have a hold on something; the further from our reach.
The more we let go. . . the freer we become.

My father died on Memorial Day.

So fitting for a man so Patriotic.
He was staunch in his beliefs.
Rough around the edges.
Certainly did not cry.
Ever.
Except.
In a room full of people.
When service men and woman were asked to stand.
This strong, confident, stubborn man openly wept.

His sense of duty and love of country instilled in us, his children a love of state.

It inspired his grandson to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.

Yesterday was the birthday of the USMC.
Today is Veteran’s Day.

So many give their lives in Service to this Country.
To protect and serve.

It is an honor to know and live among such great people..
Those that enter the service know the meaning of surrender.
They enter the military in deep submission to leadership.
They lay down their lives, and families; willingly for their country.

How much greater with our God.
We lay before Him our all.
We trust in his Guidance and Mercy.
In return we receive strength and power as one has ever known.
The assurance that:
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.

We honor those today who think first of others, who often give thanklessly.

Thank you to the Men and Women giving to uphold and defend the rights of the American people.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

I am thankful for:

The United States of America, that Land of the Free; the Home of the Brave
A family full of folks who have served this country
the light rain that has continued to fall saturating this dry land
the wind chimes reminding me of the ocean I miss so much
the pause just before dawn; the quiet; the hope
Our Thursday evening bible study and the rich, deep converstions
the freedom to meet to study God’s word
this farm and my farmer who toils regardless of sickness or exhaustion
The men and women who are serving and have served in the Armed Forces across this great country.
my son who so desperately wanted to serve this country
the joy the permeates my soul when my heart is aligned with King of all Kings

May you find joy in the Surrender today. 
Hope in the journey.
