My Moments Of Inappropriateness

19 Mar

Oh, I make everyone mad in my family.  It does't happen often.  But when it does.  I can't stop.  I call it holy laughter because there really is nothing funny that has happened.  And it's usually at prayer time at the table. When I need to be modeling appropriate behavior.  It's just before we are about to say grace.  And it's really an inappropriate time to giggle.  But I do anyway.  And then everyone else does.  Except for Gary and Elijah.  Oh, Elijah would get so mad at me.  I couldn't stop.  It happened ... We Are Kept

11 Feb

It says it right there. Right there in Jude. At the very beginning.  To those who have been called, who are loved by God, the Father and kept by Jesus Christ. We are kept by Christ.  What a thing.  I linger on those words. I sip coffee for a few moments, and then a few moments more; while meditating on those Ancient Words. I actually even got up and got another cup because I needed to hear this message. And I stayed up too late watching the Olympics and my brain is still fuzzy.  So I needed another cup to clear the sleep away and catch hold of this ... View Post

The Super Bowl And The Almighty. . .All In A Day

2 Feb

It's Sunday.  And I know his mercies are new every morning.  It was the immediate thought that ran through my head when  I saw the sunrise the morning of Elijah's home-going.  His mercy and grace have been extended greatly in the past 6 months.  We have been carried when we can not walk.  We have been loved and cared for by our friends and community in ways I could never have imagined.  I am glad for this day of rest. I am weary. The week has been long. My emotions getting the better of me most of the time. I can't sort out some of this ... View Post

Two Roads Diverged, And I Had No Choice

18 Oct

The Road Not Taken BY ROBERT FROST Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I ... View Post

Maybe We Will Survive

3 Oct

The reality of our son not being here for the rest of our  lives,  is weighing heavy on my heart. The missing is overpowering at times. It takes my breath away. I feel as if my heart will break.  And really, it has;  into a million pieces. . . The pieces are being replaced day by day. Prayer by prayer.  But it will never be the same. Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, The equipment on ...
