I Will Go Day #25 of Thankfulness

25 Nov

There's been a lot brewing here on the farm for a few weeks.  I mentioned last week that there was project we wanted to share.  This busy place is always full of ideas and creativity.  Sometimes those ideas come to fruition and other times  they are mulled over through the years.  Deep seeded ideas; longings.  One of those a yearning, for my farmer, year after year. Suppressed as chores, and children take precedence over thoughts and dreams. Until this year;  when one of those children is married and has a child of her own.  Another of those ... View Post

Does The Quiet Threaten You? Day # 21 Thankfulness

21 Nov

I am reminded that Jesus often withdrew. Luke 5:16 But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer       He stepped away from the crowds and the fullness of the day. He intentionally took time to be alone; to rest in His Father.  Often that time was cut short. He was highly pursued. People wanted to be in his presence. But he was human. And life got overwhelming. So, Jesus withdrew.  These are lessons I am learning. Learning how to be quiet. How to make all I do intentional; Even the laundry, the book work. It all matters.  It all counts.  How to pull away from ... View Post

It’s Not Just Resting, It’s Resting In Day #16 of Thankfulness

16 Nov

It is when we feel least like being thankful that real gratitude is found.  This week has been a struggle to find the thankful.  Each day work.  Staying the course.  Seeking.  Because gratitude takes eyes to see.  A veil pulled back.  Pushing through the moments.  It's not an emotion or a feeling.  It is life style.  1 John 2:17 The world and its desires pass away,  but whoever does the will of God lives forever. A way of life.  The morning hours are fading. The work of the day stretching out; ... View Post

No Amount Of Scrubbing Will Change What Has Happened Day #12 of Thankfulness

12 Nov

The sun shone through the windows casting rainbows everywhere. Two little girls that were visiting, valiantly tried to catch them.  Such a beautiful day.  That sun, streaming through the windows though, showed the dirt and grime. A reminder of all I have neglected through months of cancer and grief.  I stifled the self pity and pulled out the paper towels. I washed with a vengeance.  I wiped away dirt and spider webs.  No matter how hard I try.  I can not wipe away my circumstances.  They are here to stay.  Embracing the journey is the only ... He Made Me Laugh

1 Oct

He made me laugh.  That second born son.  The one who shoulders the weight.  The future.  He made me laugh.  He loves Christmas. Always has.  Little sleep.  So excited.  A bundle of joy.  Energy.  Complying with my request, for a cup of coffee, before presents, on Christmas morning;  he will have one waiting. . . long before it is time to be awake.  Energy.  Sheer joy.  Over presents. Over a babe in a manger. Wonder.  Contagious.  And at 15 that joy is still there.  I walk into the dining ... View Post

His Song Is Different Now

3 Sep

The day is done.  His birthday over. There was no cake. I couldn't. But one of his friends sent me a picture of one she baked. This mama's heart swelled with gratitude. He is remembered.  We tried to have a bonfire; but like last year, the rains came and the heaven's declared their majesty.  The beat of the thunder kept cadence with the rain.  We gathered on the front porch. We stormed the throne of grace in prayer.  Thanksgiving for being held.  Strength for the future.  Time together.  I climbed the stairs to say good night to the ... View Post
