Day #21 of Thankfulness

21 Nov

Holy. We cross the threshold of the Notre-Dame Basilica. A 2 hour trip taking us 4 hours because of a car repair. Yet fun. Relaxing. Holy. I am awed by the intricacies of the architecture. Who was the designer? How long did the artists work? What were they thinking as they created this work of Art? I sit in that place. I take in all I can. The holy meets my aching, tired, soul. I am in awe. Such gifts of talent given. Candles lit in memories of loved ones. I want to weep. I want to light a candle for my boy.  I want to remember. The kids say I need to come see another ... Our Perspective is Everything

25 Jan

I wake to a head ache.  The dull, throbbing kind.   It's time for milking.  My farmer brings me an Advil.  I fall back to sleep.  When I wake again it is to moon beams streaming into the room.  I glance out the window.  The view breath taking.  The moon; full, bright.  Illuminating.  I lay there for a moment.  Those first few moments of waking are always difficult.  I purposefully change my thoughts.  2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments  and every pretension that sets itself up against  the ... Jesus Came to Change Our Lives. Not Our Circumstances.

16 Jan

Last year.  My farmer and College girl where in Haiti on this day.  Now they've been again.  Here is a re-post of thoughts on Water.  One of our most important resources.  Do You Have A Decent Source of Water?  John 4:14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give them  will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." Water An integral part of our life.  Without it; we can not survive.  Yet there are nations that struggle.  Clean drinking ... View Post

At First There Were Two Day #17 of Thankfulness

17 Nov

At first there were two.  Two went with hearts bursting.  To a country in need.  My farmer and now college girl.  When death and cancer had been our companions.  A spark was rekindled.  A yearning to go.  And they did.  They went. They were changed.  The heart of the people forever ingrained in their souls.  And now they are going back; with nine.  To bring much needed items.  To be the hands and feet of Jesus.  A response to the call.  Go! Luke 10:37 The expert in the law replied, ... View Post

You Know That Quiet Hush, Right After A Snow Fall? Yes, Me Too

19 Jan

The snow has fallen.  The world transformed.  The dirt and brown covered.  A hush hovers.  Expectancy.  The quiet after a snowfall, A gift.  I barely dare to take a breath.  The wonderland; so beautiful.  I close my eyes.  I rest in this moment.  I pause in the presence of a holy God.  In awe of His creation.  Such beauty.  Each day I wrestle with what life should look like.  What is my role?  I think many of us do.  What is my purpose?  So much has changed.  I will never be the ... What I Am Learning In The Silence

18 Jan

There is silence.  Where I thought there would be conversations and sharing.  There is very little.  I struggle.  I train my heart to pray.  It is hard work. Silence is good.  Silence is healthy.  I am not a silent person.  I fill space with words.  I sort through life's hardships shattering silence.  But here.  Now.  With one in heaven and two in Haiti.  Silence follows me.  Internet scarce.  Silence.  A sound foreign to me.  Unsettling.  Until. Until, I take notice.   I see what God is trying ... View Post
