He Turns 18 Today

11 Jun

He came fast.
A whirlwind.
Right at milking time.

The alarm went off when I had my first contraction.
He somehow knew,
his entrance must be quick.
After the other two. . . this was a relief.
3:00 am  first contraction.
4:19 am we meet face to face.
I enjoyed every minute.
He was so easy.
Happy.

Caught right on to nursing.
Took him everywhere.

Born on a Friday morning;
Went with me to school on Monday.

Always busy.
Finding something to build or tear apart.
The world was his playground.

His imagination; limitless.

He now turns the age his brother never knew.

So many emotions.
He wrestles with life.
Longing to be a man; still so young.

But he perseveres.
He steps forward each day.
A goal.
A dream.
Unsure.
Shaky.
Yet willing to move.

He loves the land.
Craves the open spaces.
Freedom in the schedule.
He likes to go.
He’s not afraid to stop at farms and see if they need help.
In his few short years he has covered many miles.
He likes to help; to serve.

We’re celebrating this boy today.

He can infuriate me like no other.
He can make me laugh like there’s no tomorrow.
God chose us to raise this young man.

All the good, the hard, the stressful and the fulfilling all have passed through our Father’s hand.

God will make a way where there seems to be none.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Happy 18th Birthday Cedge!!
