Light permeates darkness.
Every time.
The smallest spark, illuminates.
It is the first Sunday in Advent.
That Season of Preparation; Waiting,
for the Incarnate.
Advent Wreaths will be lit today.
A circle.
Never ending.
4 Candles representing the 4 Sundays prior to Christmas;
the 5th candle, the Christ Candle, lit on Christmas morning.
Light.
Permeating the darkness.
Symbol for all.
Hope.
The candle lit today represents Hope.
Hope for all Nations.
Frankly, we need hope.
Not hope in a new administration.
Not hope in government or currency.
Hope in Jesus Christ.
In whom we live and have our being.
All others will let us down.
No matter their intentions.
The only true Hope we have, is in Jesus.
His message of love and redemption, is for all.
Sometimes a hard message.
None the less a message of truth and hope.
As we light this candle today.
May you feel the beginnings of a new hope.
Strength beyond measure.
Peace.
The college girl heads back to school today.
Back to Final exams.
The end of her 3rd semester of college.
She will return in two weeks to celebrate the rest of this Season of Advent.
It is hard to watch her go.
My mommy heart breaks a little more each time.
She’s growing into a lovely young woman.
Learning to let go after one child resides heaven is so hard.
All instincts default to clinging.
Holding on tighter.
Control.
Loss will do that.
So each day I step into the hope that is given.
I practice letting g0. . .to God.
Trusting that the day will be what it will be.
Giving thanks, continually.
I am thankful for:
Light that permeates the darkness
Hope for all Nations
One day there will be no more tears, no more heartache
A God who knows the future, who holds so tightly
times to practice gratitude
learning how to trust when my heart aches deeply
years of holidays that were so beautiful
opportunities to make a difference in this world
eyes to see the need
a God who reached down into humanity to save us
the hope of eternity
my family
each of our children that show us each day God’s grace
the gift of farming; the struggle, the challenge
my farmer
The light is beginning to peek over the mountain.
Light.
Dispelling the darkness.
The hope of a new day.
Our God is with us.
Make this your “best day ever. “

Immanuel
So what will be Your answer? Will You hear the call?
Of Him who did not spare His son but gave Him for us all
On earth there is no power there is no depth or height
That could ever separate us from the love of God in Christ
This amazing hope will be my guide for the day.
