Celebrating the Niece Today!

26 Jun

She's 15 today.  My funtastic niece! Beautiful and feisty.  One of my greatest hero's. Her laughter like a thousand sparkles.   Her stubbornness deep.  She leans head on into life.  She needs that grit. She's fought hard through surgeries since day one.  Yet this hasn't slowed her down.  She's adaptable and stuck to her guns.  She loves her family fiercely.  Her heart, so sensitive towards others.  That heart.  Baptized in the river that runs through the land of her ancestors.  Learning ... He’s #10 but wear’s a #6

8 May

I reach into the pile.  I pull out his shooting shirt.  It is nice and white.  I smile.  He's playing so well this year.  A place for him to burn off steam.  It's been such a hard year.  The number catches me off guard.  #6 Wait. . . he's #10. I am reminded one brother wears the shirt of the other.  A number now retired in memory of one so young.  A jersey signed by all his team mates.  My heart aches.  This journey day to day can get heavy.  Thoughts and memories swirl.  The loss ... Maundy Thursday

2 Apr

It's Maundy Thursday.  A Holy Day.  The last day that Jesus walked this earth.  He knew his journey.  He willingly went.  The Cost of The Cross.   Click on the link.  My thoughts from last year are still echoed in my heart today, "The journey Jesus took to the cross is the defining piece of my faith. He came into Jerusalem Hailed as King and left Jerusalem via the cross. He took on the dirty and broken; so that we might live. He died to save a wretch like me; when He himself was sinless." ... Time Marches On

28 Mar

Her future.  Before her.  So exciting.  Student accepted day.  College.  Questions.  Trying to decide.  Which school is the best.  All this.  When it's been 20 months.  20 months since he last drew a breath.  20 months since our world seemed right.  And now she,  my daughter, on the edge of the beginning.  The emotions swirl.  Torment, yet excitement.  I can not forsake one because my heart longs for the other.  The speed increases.  My mind can not keep ... When You’re Behind Before the Day Begins (A re-post)

18 Mar

Between feeling behind and working hard to choose joy,  I was reminded of this post from last year.  I was filling a bag a day.  Everything we do matters.  Each activity is holy in and of itself.  May your day rest in this glory of knowing your work is holy.  ------------------------------------------------------------ March 18, 2014 When You're Behind Before the Day Begins The dishwasher hums because I forgot to start it last night.  The washing machine whirls because for some reason it stopped full of water.  Sometimes our water pressure isn't ... Peanut Butter Pie

24 Feb

Peanut Butter Pie.  Sometimes it's what we need.  A little baking.  A plan.  Some sunshine.  Sometimes, life is not what we expected   We can not give in to the despair and sadness.  It fights to pull us under.  Threatens to undermine our joy.  So, make a pie.  Spread some sunshine.  Do one thing you know you should.  And above all else.  Give thanks.   Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;  his love endures forever. Our hope is not in the temporal things of ... View Post
