Happy Birthday Marines, 30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #10

10 Nov

Happy Birthday Marines! It's the birthday of the United States Marine Corps. It is also the night of many balls and celebrations across the country. A commitment. A desire to serve. A country worth sacrificing your life for. Our farm boy is a cake bearer for his unit tonight. He will don his dress blues for the first time since graduation. We are proud parents. We, along with all here, at the Davis Farm say thank you to all our Veteran's. We are grateful. We are honored. We will never forget. Saying Good Bye is Never Easy

6 Jun

The call came early Monday morning.  A week ago. I wrestled and struggled, not my will but thine.  I respected the call, I signed for my son to ... View Post

Honoring Those Who Served. . .Day #11 of Thankfulness

11 Nov

You won't wear the uniform. The pride that ran so deep never to be experienced. Life ended so abruptly Dreams shattered Cuts like a knife The memories; all that are left It is Veteran's Day And the Birthday of the Marines. This is the uniform that I hold in my heart now. It will be forever etched in my mind. Right there in that moment your present and future mingled. Yet your future never to be. And the grace that is given this side of eternity leaves me once again undone. We are given the Marine Flag. Cedric heads to the woods. He returns with a Cedar post for a ... View Post
