30 Days of Thankfulness Day #1

1 Nov

30 Days of thankfulness.
There is so much to be thankful for.
Would you join me?
Each year I try to practice gratitude more and more.
Praying that year by year my heart will change and see more of God’s goodness in people and His Creation.
Join me here in naming those things you are grateful for.
You have to start somewhere.

November 1, 2018

30 days of Thankfulness.
The air was crisp and the sky so clear.
A beautiful fall evening.
We walked to see the Pumpkin Glow.
For more than 25 years our neighbors have lovingly grown a sea of pumpkins.
They carve and display them the night before and of Halloween.
Neighbors come out, folks from all over walk to see the sight.

It is the start of the season of gratitude.
Gratitude- the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

“The quality of being thankful.”

“Gratitude turns what we have, into enough.”

The practice of gratitude helps us be content.
Our focus shifts.

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought,
and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”—G. K. Chesterton

More of our time should be spent in the wonder around us.
Marveling at the work God has done.

Praising him for the gifts.
Giving praise changes something inside of us.

Join me for the month of November in stepping into gratitude.
Look for the wonder, whether you are walking a deep heart wrenching journey, or in a season of contentment.
Record your own gratitude journey.

Day #1 of Thankfulness

I am grateful for:

my beautiful family
The crisp night air and brilliant stars
Pumpkin glows and friends and new neighbors
The mom tax
The season of gratitude
A cousin-friendship that has lasted 5 decades
Advent
Cooler days
Hot soup
Warm bread
Coffee
German exchange student
music
Snow on the mountain

I will practice this gift of gratitude no matter my circumstances.
Gratitude is not based on my circumstances, but my love for God.
Often it is in obedience that I choose gratitude.
Through that obedience my heart changes; I begin to see wonders I never expected.
