First Snow! 30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #14

14 Nov

First Snow!
I pour my coffee and turn on the fire.
It is then that I notice the quiet hush.
The first snow.

Flakes fall in slow, purposeful motion:
As if they understand the beauty and wonder of the first snow.
There isn’t a sound.

These moments.
I hold them close.
The wonder.
I watch for a while.
Snow laden branches.

My mom loved the snow.
She would call me with excitement in her voice.
She loved the unmarked landscape.
As kids she wouldn’t let us brush the snow off the railings are walk on the lawn.
She loved the beauty.

I stand for a few more minutes thanking God for this scene before me.
Thanking God for a mother who loved the beauty in things.

I want to play M-m music.
I won’t say the word because everyone wants to give Thanksgiving it’s due.
But I’m so Thankful for M-m.
So very.

I hope you are able to wonder at the first snow.
To see the beauty.
The white, crisp landscape.
The stark, now covered in a layer of  snow.

Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me,
and I will be whiter than snow.

The wonder of a Savior come to cleanse us and make us whole.
A fresh start.
No guilt.
No shame.
Love- personified.

First snow.

Day #13 of Thankfulness

I am Thankful for:

the first snow
branches laden with snow
Hot coffee
the warmth from the fire
a mom who showed me wonder
a life lived in full surrender to a loving God
moments of grace and wonder
M-M holiday coming up.
learning new things each day
the beginnings of a reconciliation
a God who never leaves us nor forsakes us
this beautiful farm

    Thankful!
The town plow turns around in my driveway! We can get out in any kind of snowstorm…
Nate tries not to hit my garden arch…. I light it up with fairie lights to help him see it.
I am thankful he waits while i run out with muffins/ cookies/ fresh bread….
sometimes we can chat a few precious minutes…
I am thankful to be able to bake as the storm is predicted..
Thankful for this 30 year old tradition/ relationship….
