The God Who Sees Our Need, and Provides

25 Jul

He speaks of God’s provision.
Our Pastor.
My mind drifts.
(this is not uncommon)
Abraham’s willingness to listen; to do the hard things.

Genesis 22
(Yes. The whole chapter. It is a nail biter)

He brought his son.
His beloved son to be sacrificed.
His ONLY son.
His prayed for son.
Obedience.
He didn’t question God.
Yet, when his son Isaac asked the question,

“Hey, dad, where is the lamb for the sacrifice?”

I am sure many things went flying through his thoughts.
We don’t know what those were.
We only know what he said.

“God, himself, will provide the lamb.”

God will provide what is needed.

You see.
He had enough faith to know something was up.
He knew he needed to be obedient.
He knew enough about God’s character to walk in obedience.

God did not slay Isaac.
Instead He, indeed, provided a lamb for the sacrifice.
A live, living ram caught in the bushes.
Abraham must have had a clue that something big was going down.
He said to his servants before they climbed to the sacrifice place,
“Wait here. Then WE will return.”

I tune back into our Pastor.
The term Jehovah-Jireh has two meanings.
I listen intently.
My Provider.
That is what Jireh means.

What could the other meaning be?

He Sees/Provides.
That what our Pastor says.
I thought El Roi, was the God who sees.
I’m confused.

I drift again.
(I do that often. If I didn’t drift, I probably wouldn’t be confused)

Is it the God who sees. . . and then provides?
He’s the God who sees the need?
He sees what has to be provided?
That’s why we don’t always get what we want; or what we think we need.
We get what He Sees.
What is provided because of what He sees.

I tune back in.
I wrestle with the Providing.
He gives us what we need.

I find myself often repeating those words to my children.
Is that a need; or a want.
We don’t live with extra’s.
We mostly have enough.

He gives us what we need.

I will spend much time trying to flush this out-

The  God who sees our need and provides.

-because, lately, I haven’t enjoyed what He’s provided.
I’m not getting sacrilegious.

Just honest.
Brutally.

Yet, He doesn’t ask me if I like what He provides.
He asks me to trust Him.
He sees a bigger picture.
His plans encompass more than I could ever understand.

So.
I trust that God knows my need.
He SEE’s my need.
I trust that what He provides is what is needed.
Even when I don’t understand or agree.

I rest in His love and grace, even when my heart aches.

There is peace and assurance far beyond my understanding.
God is the God who sees our every need and He provides.

Resting in those Promises as we approach the Anniversary of our son’s home going.
