What About #GivingDecember? Day #30 of Thankfulness

30 Nov

Another month comes to a close.
The 30 Days of Thankfulness making way for Advent.
The lights are hung.

The tree in.
Christmas Carols play most of the day.
The girls are busy making lists and thinking of gifts to give.

There is so much wrapped in this season.

I think back over this month of Gratitude.
Each year I change.
I lose sight of the good easily.
This practice reaches down to my very core and spurs me on.

The idea of Giving Tuesday seemed to appear.
There wasn’t much warning on my part.
Yet, I am pleasantly surprised at the heart of people.
Giving.

The opportunities are limitless.

I received private messages and saw friends posting links.

We really can make a difference.
We are the hands and feet of Jesus.

A woman is donating pajama’s at a care facility for those living with Huntington’s Disease.
This woman gives out of love and her own personal journey with a loved one with HD.

Another mama walks the grief journey.
She has opened the doors wide of her heart.
She has begun a ministry to the broken hearted.
Through her ministry she is making a difference one day at a time.

A friend from college resides half way around the world bringing the hope of Jesus to those of another Nation.
A life sacrificed to give.
Here is how to help the group she works with.

Give

She had never heard of #GivingTuesday either.
I like how she said,  “I hope we are giving every day.”

Deuteronomy 15:10
 “Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart;
then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”

I too hope  we are in the mindset of giving a little each day.
It takes  little effort to give.
Pay for someone’s coffee.
Make a little extra for dinner.
Invite a neighbor over.
Bring it to them.
Slow down the pace.
Sit.
Have coffee.
Give.
Grab a few extra groceries and leave them for a hurting family.
Send a card of encouragement to someone.

Matthew 6:3-4
“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”

So maybe this is #GiveDecember?
May you give everyday.
Not just a donation.
Give of your time.
Each one of us.

Will you tell us your stories?

How has being Thankful changed you?

How has giving, brought you great delight?

Mark 12:41-44
“And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, ‘Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.'”

We are supporting this group with our time and talents.
