Overcoming Evil with Good Day # 14 of Thankfulness

14 Nov
Praying for Paris.
As the first wave of news reports began, I contacted friends who live in the city.
Part of their family I knew were here in the states on holiday.
The others; in that city of love.
Contact made.
In shock.
But safe.
As the events unfold, the harsh reality of hatred is prevalent.
How do we get to this point?
The presence of evil; great.
Fear inevitable.
An apparent success.
Ergo the term, terrorism.
But that is not the final word.
The story does not end there.
There is a God who trumps the evil.
Who will one day bring all under his authority.
The One who traveled to the cross.
That evil may be stomped.
The childhood song flows through my mind.
Do not be overcome by evil. . . but overcome evil with good.

We have a choice in how we respond to these attacks.
We can become fearful and withdrawn.
Posting information and pictures of carnage.
Or we can humbly fall to our knees.
We can pray.
We can do one act today that will fly in the face of evil.
Make a difference in another’s life.
Show up and be the hands and feet of Jesus.
There were a handful of attackers.
There are billions of us.

We can launch a counter attack that can change the world.

~ 30 Days of Thankfulness~

I am thankful for:

a world where evil will NEVER have the last word
a place where broken hearts are held around the world
the first snow of the season
a reminder of the grace given to us
the ability to share and show immense love
salvation and the promise of eternal life
a season set aside to dwell in Thanksgiving
the ministry team having breakfast at our home; such a gift
our farmhouse table that always seems to be overflowing
a bounty of food from gardens and farms nearby
this new day where I am commanded to make a difference

Will you pray for Paris?
Will you pray for this world?
Will you pray for how you can make a difference;
today?

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
