30 Days of Thankfulness, Day #11 Take The Time To Thank A Veteran

11 Nov

Our front porch is dotted with bits of snow. The first Nor’Easter about to blow. While the snow is early and we’re not ready, we’re still stepping into Gratitude because that is the way forward. Surrendering our hearts each day, in Gratitude, to the One whose Name is above all Names. A re-post from last year. May we never forget to thank our Veteran’s.

Happy Birthday Marines!
It’s the birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
There are many balls and celebrations across the country in the coming week.
A commitment.
A desire to serve.
A country worth sacrificing your life for.

Our farm boy was a cake bearer for his unit.
He donned his dress blues for the first time since graduation.

We are proud parents.

We at the Davis Farm say thank you to all our Veteran’s.

We are grateful.
We are honored.

We will never forget.

Day #9 of Thankfulness

I am Thankful for:

2 farm boys willing to serve our country
the sound of the rain on the tin roof
coffee in the early quiet
movie nights snuggled together on the bed with the youngest
a full house
menu planning and creativity
the weekend
farm girls and our exchange student who pitch in and help get chores done early
a smaller laundry pile
a night off from cooking
a farm boy in his dress blues
17 years with the farm boy who desperately wanted to wear those dress blues
a God who holds this mama through the missing

My heart still breaks with missing our oldest farm boy.
There is still not a moment that goes by that he is not on my mind and in my heart.
I breathe deep and I step into gratitude for the gifts given.
God has a plan.
While I continue to not like that plan, I still want to be open and see what where God is leading.

When I am open, God teaches me how to live in gratitude.
He leads me to contentment.

Our oldest farm boy never made his ship date to serve this country.
God had a higher calling.
The youngest farm boy answered that  call  and finished what his brother could not.

Always faithful.

Happy Birthday United States Marine Corps!
