My day started off pretty decent before it went South.
Coffee.
The Ancient Word.
A few moments of quiet.
Then the derailing began.
Just little things, here and there.
I prayed.
I tried to surrender each thing.
Then I was blind sided.
We took a hit here on the farm that we weren’t expecting.
My flesh reared it’s ugly head.
I wanted to lash out.
My farmer wanted to lash out.
But, he, in His wisdom spoke truth.
Here we are facing another hurdle.
Another slam in the face of all that we’ve gone through.
But you know what?
I feel relieved.
A burden seems to be lifted.
While I feared what the outcome of this latest trial might be, I am realizing it’s a blessing.
We reached out to a few people to see if they could help us out.
Slowly, we are seeing a clearing.
I believe Satan intended this for harm.
He expected us, in our weakness, to cave.
But we’re not.
We’re standing on Promises that are Ancient and True.
We’re clinging to Hope promised before time began.
A hope that permeates the deepest part of the soul.
Knowing with every fiber of my being that God has a plan.
God meant this for good.
Genesis 50:20
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
It is a good plan.
For some reason He is keeping my farmer and I from seeing very much of the plan.
But that’s OK, because I trust Him.
I want Him to take this life of mine and use if for His glory.
I want to be shaped and molded according to His plan; not mine.
So, while I do not like this latest trial, I am ready.
I have my feet rooted on solid ground, our eyes are fixed on the holder of all that is true.
Psalm 16:8
I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
I long for this ache and these trials to go away.
Yet, I don’t want to miss anything that causes me to know more about God’s character.
The more I yield the more He reveals himself to me.
Yesterday was a hard day on the farm.
This unexpected turn caught us off guard.
We’re used to things breaking down and are ready for the unexpected.
This one just jumped out and derailed us for a moment.
Already we are seeing God’s handiwork.
Showing us and gently leading us.
Psalm 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
It is just before dawn.

Looking up
My farmer has fed the calves and scraped the alley’s.
One of our lovely milkers is coaxing all the frothy milk she can from the ladies.
I can learn a lot from this young lady.
She loves what she does.
She can often be heard gently speaking to the cows or singing in the parlor.
She is content.
There is already a breakdown.
The spear to lift the bales broke.
Derailed.
We have plans to be off the farm for a bit today.
Hoping this doesn’t interfere too much.
Whatever it is my farmer will roll with the punches.
He will set to work to fix the problem, without complaining; with joy in his heart for another day and another opportunity.
May we all approach the day with the idea of opportunity.
Whether good or bad; it’s all opportunity.
Let God guide your steps.
Allow him to be the holder of the pain and the joy.
Deuteronomy 14:21
“…But you are a people holy to the Lord your God.”
