There are teens in the house.
Some sitting at the table.
Some have gathered in the music room and rich harmonies flow.
The house seems alive.
The presence of God full in this place.
My heart count down the days.
Moment by moment.
I try to push it aside.
I try to distract myself.
But it’ there.
It looms.
The 5th Anniversary of Elijah’s home going.
I still can’t believe it.
I often still feel like it’s a dream.
My boy.
My red headed, just graduated, complex, fiery tempered, blue eyed first born.
He’s gone.
Torn from me without warning.
And here I am.
Still counting people at dinner time, acutely aware of the empty place at the table.
I have a pile of his shirts and pants that I move from the bed to the floor, the floor to the bed,
hoping to catch a scent, longing to see him in those clothes again.
Grief is a funny thing.
It changes, it changes you; nothing is ever the same.
We are working out our grief moment by moment, day by day.
By hosting a Fundraiser in Elijah’s honor we feel like we’re doing something.
Somehow I long for his name to be remembered.
I like to hear it out loud.
Sometimes in the quiet of the house I will call out to him; yearning to hear him respond.
Aching for that deep rich voice; to see him come running around the corner.
He was so much like me.
Always late, scattered.
Forgetting his keys, books and wallet.
His presence so very magnetic.
We want to celebrate who he was each year and remember.
By creating the Elijah Todd Davis Memorial Fund, we have done just that.
We honor a High School Senior with a Scholarship.
We’re still looking for ways to help others.
He would have liked that.
This year is the 5th year that Elijah has been gone.
We want to try to make this our best Fundraiser yet!
We will begin the day, August 4 with a Kids Fun Run and the the ETD Leatherneck Scramble-a 5k which will be held right here on our farm!
Elijah loved being outdoors.
He was in fantastic physical shape.
He was preparing for his departure date for Parris Island, for Marine Boot Camp.
That day never came for him.
The race will take place throughout our farm!
There will be mud and hay bales, obstacle and a gorgeous view!
The kid run will begin first!
We have so much in store for the kids!
Make sure to register today!!
We have some exciting news to share!
Champ will make an appearance at the kids race!
Spread the word!
You won’t want to miss this fabulous time!
In the evening we will honor his memory, his love of Music and the outdoors.
We have a great line up of talented musicians and we will provide a pig roast.
Bring a dish to share, your own beverage, a chair or blanket and your closest friends!
Tickets are FREE and can be found at the Farm, The Jericho Country Store, or the Richmond Market.
Donations towards the Memorial Fund will be taken at the Event!
We hope you will join us at one of the Fundraiser events.
Come in the morning and walk, run or observe the runners on our farm!
Everyone needs encouragement!
Return in the evening as we fling open our doors and sit under the star listening to music and enjoying a pig roast.
Information on the Fundraiser are found on our webpage, in links on this page and on our facebook page.
We don’t know what life has in store for us.
But we know that God will walk each step along side us.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you;
he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
No matter what you’re going through, may you feel the presence of God.
May peace be your guide and hope your Anchor.
We hope to welcome you to our farm!
Please feel free to share our posts!!
