That night, in the quiet, there was a stillness.
The veil was thin.
My son had been called home.
My red headed boy.
Full of life and dreams.
A heart captured by a sweet love.
Interrupted.
Silenced.
My God, that I serve, asked me to walk a road no one wants to walk.
The stillness of that night remains with me.
There was a holiness and a peace as I stepped forward.
I moved in a state of praise.
Our first language.
I defaulted to what I knew as grief began it’s journey.
I had a heart still reeling from the loss of my mom.
So, I chose to step forward in a rhythm of praise.
Moment after moment.
In the stillness.
And there have been times that I have felt forsaken by God.
As if he had turned his back.
Financial hardship, Cancer, loss of our two barns.
I crawled and prayed.
I prayed and dug in.
The God I know and serve, is in all this.
In the interrupted life of my son.
I need to declare to myself over and over the truth about God’s word.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching,
for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
The truth about who He is.
Exodus 3:14
God said to Moses, ‘I AM who I AM.’ And he said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel,
I AM has sent me to you’
Exodus 34:6
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,
What His promises say about my future.
Philippians 1:6
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry
it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
And the truth about who He says I am.
I am a child of God– John 1:12 But to all who have received him–those who believe in his name–he has given the right to become God’s children
I am chosen– Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love
I am Redeemed -Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
I am loved – John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his One and only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
In the stillness of this morning, may you know who God says you are.
30 Days of Thankfulness

Autumn
I am thankful for:
a beautiful sunrise
a birthday gathering
Baking all day
Grilling on a warm November evening
the stillness
hot coffee
porch swinging with my farmer
a full farmhouse table
kisses when they get home
a group using the farm to cut wood for those in need
gratitude and how it changes your perspective
A God who loves us despite all our inadequacies
being a child of God
As I wrote this post, I kept being reminded of a song.
These lyrics are rich.
We are so loved.
We have a purpose.
We matter.
We all matter.
Oh, the joy in that.
I am so grateful for your post. Really thank you! Much obliged. Ashlan Udale Croydon
