Day #19 of Thankfulness

19 Nov

I’m out of sorts.
There was much that happened yesterday that left us feeling rather discouraged.
. It’s a slippery slope these days.
There doesn’t seem to be much in our industry to help us shake that feeling.
We look for the good.
We step into gratitude.
But some days are just really awful.

I was reminded yesterday of the evil and selfish nature of mankind.
I was shocked at the behavior of folks in our town.
I was shocked by our reaction.
Pushed into a corner sometimes we come out kicking.
Life isn’t fair.
God certainly didn’t say it would be.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a]
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete,
not lacking anything.

He said, whenever you face trials; not if .

And he said to count it pure joy.
He also said that the testing of our faith produces perseverance.
I can tell you as of this moment, I have no more perseverance.
I am weary.
My soul is tired.

My farmer and I were glad when yesterday was over.
We still need to deal with the issue.
There are many other things on the farm that are just not ok today.

I rose early to get a start on the day.
I can’t do this day without God.
My selfish, sinful nature will rise to the surface.
Today I will practice gratitude and attempt to be civil and find grace.

It’s not easy.
But it’s the best way.
We can’t control others actions or how they react.
We can only pursue holiness, for ourselves in all situations.

God has a plan.
There was a reason for this situation.

We are tired and we’re reactive.
We need to step back and let God do the fighting for us.
Trust Him.

Exodus 14:14
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Running to the Ancient Word brings peace.
It reminds us of truth.
God will work out this situation.

God is fighting for us, pushing back the darkness,
lighting up the kingdom, that cannot be shaken -DarleneZschech

I am going to trust and lay this burden down.
Stepping into gratitude.

Day #19 of Thankfulness

I am Thankful for:

a farmer who works so hard
an open home where people are free to enter
doing life real
sunshine
Sabbath
A God who fights for us
Hot coffee
Morning trips with my daughter to the High School
Early morning barn run to get milk
prayer
the hush that is over the snow laden earth in the early morning
