Each morning before we head off for the day those large farmer hands take the
Ancient Words and breathe life into this family.
Ancient Words and breathe life into this family.
It is not always holy.
It is sometimes horror.
With me dissolving into laughter over someones antics and receiving a glaring look from the
farmer or the eldest son, now deep in the earth.
farmer or the eldest son, now deep in the earth.
But this morning we are huddled together because those carefree days seem like an eternity away.
The eldest son called home.
The farmer battling the wages of cancer.
And we as a family wondering how to step into each day.
So we do the thing we know best.
And this. . .these words, are the words that breathe life into this hurting family.
Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Clothe ourselves with these traits. A kind word. Help for a neighbor. Silencing the words that threaten to spill over in a venomous tirade. Humility; what a world we would live in. . .if all modeled Jesus in humility. Even unto death on a cross.
13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Why is it so hard to do these things? Why is forgiveness such a hard thing. My heart ponders this as Clarissa reads on. Really, it’s the one who forgives who receives the greatest of graces.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Peace. How hard it is. Everyone in a rush. Putting their own needs first. We are called to peace. It shouldn’t be so hard. It’s not a peace like this world offers. It’s a peace deep down only Jesus can give. And I’ll take it any day.
And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly
as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
And there it is; the nugget that stays with me.
And be Thankful. . .And whatever you do. whether in word or deed. do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. giving thanks to God the Father through him.
All that we do; let it be for God. All our actions all our words.
And give thanks. It’s so simple.
Let everything we do reflect him. The washing, the book work, the smoothie making, everything. Grieving. There it is. Even the grieving can be for Him. All the heartache and pain. Each hot, molten tear shed; because I want to be living any other life. . .But it’s all for Him. He is able to handle it all. It’s about relationship. We don’t need to carry the weight of the burdens.
We can let it go.
And do what we can.
We can let it go.
And do what we can.
All of it; for Him.
We get up from the table.
I don’t know what the day will hold,
but I want my words and my deeds to be for the Glory of the One who made me.
I want everything that I do to be a reflection of the love shown to us.
Holy Words, Long preserved. . .
Ancient Words ever true changing me and changing you
