Psalm 8:4 What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? The performance is over. The after party a memory. We head home. There is still a wedding tomorrow. I walk towards the house. I look up. My first reaction is to fall to my knees. The sky is ablaze with twinkling starlight. The richness powerful. I can not absorb the vastness. The Universe. The galaxies. How marvelous. I say it out loud. What is mere man that you are mindful of him? The ... View Post

They take the stage. The story about injustice, redemption, and restoration. Grace. A changed life. They tell the story through dance. I marvel at the ease with which the movements flow. These children I bore. Expression through dance. Restoration. We all long for. To be made whole. Justice. Wars begin over injustice. Conflict. Trouble. It takes one to start revival. Prayer. Searching, Seeking
As I mourn one. An extra is at my table. One who ponders the questions in the night. Comes to the barn in the wee hours. Wrestling with the heaviness of life. Searching. So many come. Needing. They seek the solace and rhythm of the barn. Something deep and rich. It is truth they seek. Elijah sought truth. His life on this earth plagued with the inconsistencies he saw. You say what you claim to be, but act as if you knew not. Wise beyond his years. Destined not for this world. It is a small solace to know he has all the answers he ... View Post
A Gift, We Hope, Will Keep On Giving
I walk into the auditorium. They are setting up for Honors Night. I feel the weight of grief. I stagger against the emotion. This is so hard. Each event tormenting in some way. I hand them the envelope. An envelope filled with a portion of a communities' generosity. It's been a year since we watched our red headed boy walk across the stage and receive the Music Department Award. He wasn't going to college. So there were no scholarships. He was going to serve His country. Now he resides with the King of Kings. In ... View Post
Turning Around Another First
A year of firsts that leave you undone. Reminders of all you have lost. Days when you shut the door to your heart because you absolutely can not feel anymore. You push hard, so you can breathe. Each breath measured so the next one will come. Bearing the weight that threatens to crush. Holding on with all you have; to promises made long before time began. Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. It's prom. A thoughtful request for ... View Post
What Kind Of A Legacy Will You Leave?
Someone took his flag. I know it doesn't really matter. But it was the only thing marking his grave. Someone placed it there. And I have loved it. I feel violated. I want to scream, my son has already been taken from me! Now the flag too? I am sure someone probably saw the flag and thought it was randomly placed where it was. It wasn't a malicious act. They had no idea there was a grave. I know this; but this is such a great reminder. The legacy Elijah left is so much more than the space in the graveyard. We are ... View Post
