It is in the Surrender that we are the most strong. When we lay it all down. That the power is fully engaged. Surrender- to give the control or use of (something) to someone else When we bow, humbly before the Cross. We are strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." . . . It is funny how that is. The tighter we have a hold on something; the further from our reach. The more we let go. . . the freer we become. My father died on Memorial Day. So fitting for a man so Patriotic. He was staunch in his ... View Post
America: God Shed His Grace on Thee
O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! A friend posted this on her face book wall. It evoked memories of Elementary music classes. It also brought back a memory of a dance recital. The finale included this song and all dancers coming onto the stage carrying flags. I remember the crowd standing to their feet. It was the 70's and I was young. I remember the lump in my throat. A sense of pride ... View Post
Election Day! Day #8 of Thankfulness
Here it is Election Day! A day that used be somewhat exciting and patriotic. A day when my heart swelled with gratitude for the exercise of freedom in this great United States. I woke last night. Yes, just after my last post about not having trouble sleeping. I woke. And could not fall back to sleep. I realized it was the election on my heart. So I prayed for this great Nation. And fell back to sleep I woke again this morning with peace. This is still a great Nation. We are still here. When our son died. God left us here. For a reason. For a purpose. We still have a voice. If ... View Post
Are You Really Ready?
They're building at the accident site. Someone has put a Quilt Show sign right in front of the pole. I am sure they have no idea that the heart of a 17 year old ceased to beat in that space. That the ground holds his blood. But the sacredness of that space is temporal. His spirit was gathered in a cloud and whisked to the holy of holy's. Reigning now with the King of all Kings. A life time is being lived while part of me still remains; there. She looks me in the eyes. This wise teenager. So different from the others. Sensitive. Stylish. Hard working. She leans over and says ... View Post
The Recipe for a Perfect Storm
I spewed before I listened. Hot, spicy words came flying out. I was angry. There are clothes everywhere. Furniture broken. Furniture moved. Furniture in the hallway. Furniture in a closet. Furniture where it doesn't belong. Rooms that I had decorated and cleaned and arranged; now the way they want them. Not the way they were. And I lose it. The homeschooling books are still out, the science experiment, still on the counter. There is laundry piled high from too many clothes and the cleaning out the rooms. The youngest; angry, throws markers every where and stomps off in a ... View Post
Lots of Celebrating in Heaven
He'd be 74 today. His birthday so close to his first grandchild. Today. They celebrate together. In heaven. Life has been full here. School starting. College girl back to school. The oldest farm girl leaving those sweet farmettes to impart knowledge on the next generation. The farm boy restless again. Searching. Stretching. The younger two growing. Blossoming. Here I am in this sea of emotions. Swept along. Washing clothes, planning meals, doing bookwork. Discovering a quiet house every once in a while. A strange sound. Today, I think on my dad. I miss him. The whole ... View Post
